Hexagram Sui, or Following, represents the philosophical elegance of fluidity within the romantic bond. It suggests that true intimacy is not a fortress built by two rigid egos, but a river that flows according to the contours of the landscape. In love, "Following" is not an act of submission, but a conscious choice to align one’s rhythm with another. It asks us to abandon the tyranny of always being "right" in favor of the resonance of being "together."
The judgment of "Supreme Success" arises because the cosmos favors adaptability over obstinacy. When we allow ourselves to be led by the genuine needs of our partner and the organic evolution of the relationship, we dissolve the friction of conflict. However, the "Beneficial Perseverance" warns that this fluidity must have a spine; one must follow the truth of the connection, not mere impulse. Therefore, there is "No Blame" in letting go of control, provided it is done with integrity. To love, in the light of Sui, is to engage in a dynamic dance where leading and following are interchangeable, and where the greatest strength is found in the grace of yielding to love’s current.
